Quality public space without tourist traps and smog

Prague 1 should be a living part of the city, not just a backdrop for the tourist business. That's why I've long been dealing with tourist traps, visual smog, illegal stalls and businesses that tend to harm the historic centre. For example, I pushed through the termination of the leases of the “Prague ham” stalls on Old Town Square, the removal of illegal stalls and outdoor seating in the city centre, and I took part in restricting organised booze-tourism pub crawls. For municipal premises, I push for open competitions. Most recently, for example, for the space on Radnické schody, which is known for Braník in PET bottles. I don't want whoever offers the most money to win automatically. Quality also matters, and what a given business will bring to the place.

02

Airbnb and a bigger return from tourism

Tourists are welcome in Prague 1. But tourism has to have clear rules, and part of the money it generates in the centre has to go back into its streets. That's why I've long been working on short-term accommodation. I want mandatory registration, identification numbers for listings and data available to municipalities. Simply put: anyone who runs a flat as a hotel can't be invisible to the authorities. At the same time, I'm pushing for municipalities to have more say over the tourist tax. Money from tourism should help fund cleaning, public toilets, safety and care for the places that bear the onslaught of visitors every day.

Municipal flats should be for living in

On the one hand, we have young people for whom housing in the centre is almost unaffordable. On the other, municipal flats that sometimes stay empty for unnecessarily long. That doesn't make sense. So I want faster repairs of empty flats and getting them back into use as housing. I'd also like to use part of the housing stock as starter housing for young people and new households. And for me one more simple rule applies: a flat should above all be a flat. If someone is in fact running a hotel, the appropriate rules must apply to them.

A few words about me

I'm 29 and Prague 1 is my home. I'm a councillor of the city district, I chair the finance committee and I also work on culture and sport. I've completed my master's degree and, because I still enjoy learning new things, I'm also studying law. What I enjoy most about local politics is that its results aren't abstract. You see them on your way home. On the square, in front of your house, in what a street looks like or what kind of business opens in municipal premises. That's why I focus most on public space, tourism, municipal property and housing. In recent years I've dealt with tourist traps, “Prague ham” on Old Town Square, pub crawls, Airbnb and the rules for renting out municipal premises. Not everything works out the first time, but I like politics where you can see a concrete result at the end. And when I'm not dealing with Prague 1? I play keyboards in the band Vypuštěné Koupaliště, go to swing dances and sometimes need to switch off completely with the PlayStation. I've recently fallen for motorbikes and I'm just getting my category A licence. And this year something else happened to me, something much more important to me than politics. I asked my girlfriend to marry me. She said yes.
