public space

We have both brilliantly used and less well used space here. The Stanice 6 cultural centre is the better example: a station that was no longer used has been turned into a great centre where people like to spend their free time. I'd also mention Šesťák, which brings a lovely neighbourly atmosphere to busy Kulaťák and shows how to use public space properly. On the other hand, we have its evil twin, the little square at Hradčanská. A similarly interesting place, only completely unused and even unpleasant for a lot of people. I'm glad it's the Starostové who are opening up this topic, so the little square could live up to its potential.

02

environment

In Prague 6 we're lucky to have quite a lot of greenery. But that doesn't mean we can pat ourselves on the back and not look after it. It needs to be maintained, new construction needs to be conditional on greenery, and streets need “greening” so that we reduce how hot the streets get in summer and don't cook. Besides temperature, greenery has a positive effect on both people's mental state and their health.

03

transport

A key topic for Prague 6 with no simple solutions. We have to stop beating around the bush and really start acting. Transport projects tend to come with endless talk, but in the end they bring relief to our home. That's how it was with Blanka, for example. Now Kulaťák needs dealing with, to take the pressure off it so that it can become a calm place for neighbourhood life. Kulaťák is just one example; there are more challenges ahead, such as the rapid rail link to the airport, the airport runways themselves, the ring road and expanding the public transport network. What's essential is to tackle and discuss these topics, not stay silent about them and secretly push something through without citizens and neighbours knowing.

A few words about me

I've lived in Prague 6 my whole life. For me it's not just home, it's a place where I'm not afraid, where I spend time with friends, a place I always look forward to and am happy to come back to. Prague 6 isn't perfect and it has challenges ahead, but it's definitely great, and I'd like it to stay that way. That's why I decided I'm not indifferent to what happens to my favourite place. That's why I want to look after Prague 6, that's why I want to Take Care of it. I'm 20, I study law at Univerzita Karlova, and I'm a guitarist in a band, although my favourite instrument is the piano. I'm a passionate dog lover and I have a side job in the centre of Prague as a ghost on guided tours. If you have anything to say about Prague 6, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
