schools and education

Given the size of our district and the number of schools and nurseries here, this is a key area. Good-quality, accessible education is the basis for the district's development and attractiveness. I'd like to help build a good reputation for our schools, so that people don't have to change their addresses “for show” and worry about where to place their child. I also consider it most important that everyone who attends a school feels good there. That's why having enough school psychologists, whom the district can support (not only financially), is truly essential for me. Last but not least, I want to support the communities around these schools — so that not only students and teachers, but also parents, athletes and artists are satisfied and involved — if we manage to routinely connect these areas together.

02

culture

Culture is an important part of life in every city district. Prague 10 has great potential to support cultural events, community life and local initiatives and associations that can bring people together across the board. Our district is a pretty good model — whether it's MANU, kino Pilotů or the new Vzlet. Step by step we're building a kind of local identity that is making Prague 10 a sought-after, distinctive and above all unique cultural place with a wider reach. I'd like to continue in this and help local enthusiasts and “artsy folk” bring their works and ideas to life. To create a pleasant environment for anyone who wants to get the cultural life around them flowing even more.

03

young people

I'm genuinely convinced that a good council should reflect the diversity of society as closely as possible — it should include young and older people, women and men, people with different life experiences, professions and opinions. It's precisely diversity that leads to more responsible and better-thought-out decisions that take into account the needs of the widest possible range of residents. I'd like to represent the young generation in particular — so that everyone wants to live here, from the littlest ones to students and young families.

A few words about me

My name is Jakub Sedlák, I'm 21 and I study International Relations and Diplomacy at university. Alongside that, I work at the Památník národního útlaku a odboje in Panenské Břežany. I've lived in Prague 10 since birth — Vršovice, to be precise, which I love and carry in my heart. I think young people have a duty to get involved in public life too — to bring different perspectives, different ideas. That's also why I joined KDU-ČSL, which supports aspects of life that are so important to me, such as families, nature and human rights. I share the view that we should try as hard as we can to hand over the municipality, region or country entrusted to us in a better state than we received it. In my free time I like to travel, and history is the love of my life. In local politics I'm drawn to education and culture, and I'd like to look for ways to connect these two areas meaningfully and naturally — which is a challenge!
