Running for Prostějov 2:0

Main topics

01

culture

My priority is things to do culturally, which are currently missing here. Young people simply need good spaces where they can meet, get to know each other and switch off from everyday worries for a while. I remember it myself from the days when the Morava club was still running, and even then we often preferred to go to Belmondo in Olomouc. Two events a year on the square simply won't save the situation. I'll support the creation of shared spaces, we'll bring the square to life and give room to local independent projects. I'll push for support for the club scene and modern cultural events, which have long been missing in our town.

02

young people

In my view, the key problem is the attitude of the town leadership. It must have a real interest in the young generation staying here, actively ask about their needs and accommodate them. Our town mustn't be just a transfer station. I want to create an environment where young people don't get on the first train out after school, but find affordable housing, good job opportunities and room for their own ideas here. If we give the young generation trust and the conditions to grow, they'll pay us back in the form of a lively, modern and prosperous town. I certainly don't mean that seniors or middle-aged citizens should be forgotten. But one amusing truth applies here: if the town doesn't keep its young people, then logically, in the long run, there won't be any middle-aged people left here, let alone seniors.

03

sport

A very pressing issue in our town. The mayor is in the leadership of the local football club, for which a stadium worth hundreds of millions was built, and at the same time we're currently dealing with a crisis between our two hockey clubs. My goal would be responsible and completely transparent funding of sport in Prostějov and a huge emphasis on supporting young people. Those are the two cardinal problems of sport in Prostějov.

A few words about me

I'm a proud native of Prostějov. Even though after my school-leaving exams at Gymnázium Oty Wichterleho my studies took me to the Prague University of Economics and Business, my heart and my home remain firmly tied to our region. I'm a team player. For more than 10 years I was active in the club SK K2 Prostějov, where among other things I coached young people. Sport taught me that you can't win without honest work, fair play and a good team. I want to bring the same approach to running the town. My goal is to use my economic knowledge and fresh experience from my studies and apply them at home in Prostějov. I've been actively involved in politics since I was 18, because I've never been indifferent to what's going on around me. A student's perspective and the chance to compare with life in a big city clearly show me that Prostějov is unfortunately running out of breath in what it can offer the rising generation. I don't want to accept that my friends are leaving for elsewhere because they find Prostějov unattractive and stuck in its ways. The town must give people a meaningful reason to stay, not only for economic reasons but also thanks to good things to do. I want to breathe life and energy back into the centre and support a varied culture, from interesting talks and modern events in public space to the missing club scene. I'd like to make Prostějov a lively town that moves with the times, values talent and gives young people room to shape its future.
