Main topics

01

housing

Affordable housing is for me one of the most fundamental issues for the development of Strakonice. If we want young people to stay in the town after school, start families here and not move elsewhere, they have to have real conditions for it. I want the town to actively support the construction of starter flats for young people and affordable rental housing, and to make better use of municipal land and unused buildings. Equally important is dignified housing for seniors, whether in care homes, sheltered housing or other affordable forms.

02

jobs and business

Housing alone isn't enough. If people are to stay in Strakonice, they also need to be able to find good work here. The town should therefore be an active partner for local businesspeople, companies and tradespeople. I want to introduce a regular business forum where the town and businesspeople would tackle specific problems: transport, parking, the workforce, the development of business sites, the use of brownfields and cooperation between companies and schools. Strakonice has a strong industrial and business tradition. The town should support it, not overlook it.

03

public space

When you have somewhere to live and somewhere to work, you also need a town that's good to live in. That's why public space matters to me: parks, squares, playgrounds, sports grounds, culture and places where people can meet naturally. I want neglected places to be gradually repaired, and to see more greenery, shade, quality street furniture, safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists, and places for sport and relaxation. I also support participatory budgets, so that people can propose specific improvements in their own neighbourhood.

A few words about me

My name is Václav Benedikt, I'm 20 and I come from Strakonice. I study at the Faculty of Law of Charles University. I've long been involved in youth participation – I founded the student parliament at the Strakonice grammar school, was active in the South Bohemian Student Parliament and the National Forum of Children's and Youth Parliaments, and represented students at the Ministry of Education. Today I'm a member of the academic senate of the Faculty of Law of Charles University. I want to use my experience of advocating interests, negotiating and finding compromises for Strakonice too. After twelve years of one party in power, I think it's time for a change.
