Main topics

01

public space

One of the most important topics for me is revitalising the parks of Strakonice. We have a number of parks with huge potential that we're nowhere near using yet. Unfortunately, this goes hand in hand with the gradual emptying of the town centre, which our parks are part of. I want to change that. I want to bring life back to them, so that they once again become natural centres for meeting, relaxing and cultural life, and a place the people of Strakonice can rightly be proud of.

02

schools and education

Another of my key topics is education. Good education is the best investment in our town's future. I want to support the modernisation of schools, renovation of buildings and classroom equipment. But just as important for me is improving the facilities for non-teaching staff, who are indispensable for schools to function. I'd also focus on energy-saving measures, such as installing solar panels or air heat recovery. American school buses, so-called School buses, are also an inspiration for me. I'd like to open a debate on whether a similar service could work in Strakonice too. It could give children a safer journey to school, save parents time on the daily commute and at the same time reduce traffic around schools.

03

sport

Supporting sport and leisure activities is one of my priorities. I want the town to be able to create good conditions for sport at every level, from recreational and youth sport all the way to competitive sport. Just as important is regular investment in sports infrastructure, so that our sports facilities meet today's needs. I also see great potential in connecting sport more closely with schools, for example through initiatives like Trenéři ve škole, which help lead children towards a healthy lifestyle from an early age.

A few words about me

My name is Jakub Šulc, I'm 22 and I've lived in Strakonice all my life. I studied political science at Západočeská univerzita in Plzeň and I serve as chair of the Sports Commission of the Council of the South Bohemian Region. In my free time I like to travel and discover new places, where I look for inspiration on how modern towns can work better. I'm running because I believe Strakonice can work better. I want to offer residents concrete ideas and solutions that will help move our town forward.
