culture

Realistically, we have enough cultural events in Hradec; we don't necessarily need more of them, but better coordination and facilities. As someone from production, I know events often clash for no reason. That's why I'll introduce a coordinator position and a shared calendar so that festivals don't overlap and take visitors from each other. The city has to help organisers, so we'll create a “technical bank” where associations can borrow a stage or sound equipment at a subsidised price for neighbourhood celebrations. I'll also support the creation of legal busking zones for street artists that will liven up the streets without disturbing residents. We'll also closely connect culture with local gastronomy. I don't want only overpriced agencies here; I want to give room to our Hradec businesspeople. On top of that, we'll renovate Adalbertinum and modernise Aldis.

02

public space

Our historic gems mustn't lie idle. I'll turn Pajkrova flošna into a cultural and natural gateway to the city with a gallery and a cosy bistro. In Jiráskovy sady I'll create a “Picnic Point” for quiet moments with the best view of the confluence of the rivers. Žižkovy sady will go through a fundamental transformation, and we'll connect them to the city market hall with new crossings. A Hradec “Naschmarkt” will be created here – permanent farmers' markets with elegant stalls that will naturally link up with what's happening in the park. To relieve the centre of traffic and tourist coaches, we'll build a modern three-storey P+R car park at Flošna with a green roof and commercial ground floor. It will work as a smart transport hub from which you can get to the centre by express public transport or on a shared bike.

IT and AI in city administration

IT mustn't just be about expensive projects; it has to save people, organisers and businesspeople time and nerves. My main goal is a radical simplification of the paperwork. No more running around offices with papers. We'll create a fully digital portal where you can arrange, from one place, the use of public space for an event, a permit for an outdoor seating area or a grant. We'll introduce the “once is enough” principle – whatever the city already knows about you, you won't have to fill in on forms again. We'll unify systems like DOTIS so that officials don't have to click through things manually for no reason and have time to process applications quickly. Citizens will be able to track the status of their submission online, like when they're waiting for a parcel. And for everyday life we'll launch the Hradecký PASS, which will smartly link public transport and entry to sports facilities and monuments on your phone. The office must serve people!

A few words about me

I'm Patrik Šiml, a born and bred Hradec local with my feet firmly on the ground. My main job is regional manager of ODS for the Hradec Králové Region. Alongside that, I work as a tour manager and lighting technician for a well-known Czech band. I've been working in culture and event management since I was eighteen, on events ranging from the Rock for People festival to arena tours by international stars. So I don't know culture and public space just from behind a desk, but from real work in the field.

I combine this production experience with experience from politics. I work as an MP's assistant and I chair the city's tourism committee. I know the processes at the city hall, I can negotiate with officials and across the political spectrum, and I can see projects through to the end. I don't promise castles in the air, but common sense and efficient solutions.

I want to awaken Hradec Králové's potential. I'll push for reviving neglected places, decentralising culture to the housing estates and simplifying red tape for organisers. What's essential for me is building a modern P+R multi-storey car park at Flošna, which will smartly relieve the centre of cars and tourist coaches. All of this also calls for an efficient city grant system.

When I'm not working, you'll most likely find me having good coffee from a Hradec roastery, watching Formula 1, or at the grill making BBQ ribs for friends from my own recipe. A city that lives with us won't build itself. I'm ready to put in the work.

Let's make Hradec a confident, modern 21st-century city where everyone wants to live. Follow my socials for more information and concrete steps towards my vision!
