Greenery is important for retaining water in nature, for shade, cooling and cleaning the air
I love nature, and I'm not indifferent to the fact that people don't think about what's around us. When building public transport stops, we also need to think about birds and small animals that could crash into the glass panes; we need to think about them too and secure the panes with anti-collision features. Build retention basins to hold water in the landscape and around us. Bring greenery where it's missing.
Think also of people who use a wheelchair, for example, and adapt paths for them; it's often difficult even with a pram. Build flats for people on low incomes so they can have them as starter flats. Help those with a disability get involved in normal working life so they aren't on the margins of society.
I'm Marie Babincová, and the reason I'm running is that I'd like to help change something in our town. My aim is to focus more on the environment and the nature around us, which tends to be sidelined here. A lot is invested in construction, but not so much in nature projects such as water retention in the landscape. I'd like to give a chance to things that have lost their use for someone but that someone else can still use. A good example is the Re-use Centrum in Ostrava, and I'd like something like that here too, so that things don't just end up at the recycling centre. I've had a positive relationship with nature since childhood. When I was younger, I preferred spending time in nature, unlike my peers, who spent it more in shopping centres. I always like to stop, listen and take in what's around me.
