Safety of women and children in public space.

In my view, a sense of safety is the cornerstone of a good quality of life in a city. That's why I want to look for concrete and practical solutions. One of them could be reserved zones for women at the front of the bus, near the driver, on night public transport lines. At railway stations I'd also like to support the creation of quiet zones for families, women and children, including space for mothers with prams, where smoking would be banned. Similar solutions work, for example, in Austria or France and can increase the sense of safety and comfort in public space. Regular police patrols in the streets at night could also help, especially in places where people don't feel safe in the evening and at night.

Dog ownership

Dog ownership in public space A dog is part of public space. When it's being walked, it meets people, children and other dogs, which is why every owner should be able to handle their dog safely. I propose a simple test before getting a dog, which could be taken online or in person when registering the dog and paying the fee. It would check basic knowledge of walking, socialisation, training, vaccination and the owner's responsibility. If someone can't manage even basic care, they shouldn't have a dog. This could help prevent uncontrolled dogs, attacks and their subsequent placement in shelters. At the same time, I would reduce the number of serious attacks needed for a dog to be taken away. After the second serious attack the situation should be dealt with, not wait for a third or fourth.

Lighting on Kilometrovka

On Kilometrovka, bushes are repeatedly cut down for safety reasons. I think a better solution is good lighting, for example with solar lamps. In the evening the area would be clearer and safer without having to destroy greenery, which is important for local wildlife and nesting birds. I also want to support green roofs on new houses, public buildings and kiosks. They help retain water and cool the city on hot days. Inspiration can be found, for example, in Norway, where green roofs are a common part of architecture. I think Plzeň should also make more use of this way of improving the climate in the city.

A few words about me

I'm from Plzeň and I work as a self-employed person in IT and photography, and I also teach dance.

I'm running in municipal politics mainly because I want to contribute to concrete changes that can move Plzeň forward. I see that important topics are being dealt with in the city, such as housing, construction or modernisation. But I consider the question of safety, and of how people really feel in their city, to be just as fundamental.

In my view, a sense of safety is the foundation on which everything else stands. If people don't feel safe in public space, we can hardly talk about a city that's a good place to live. That's why I'd like to draw more attention to this area and look for concrete solutions that will make everyone in Plzeň feel safe, including women, children and other more vulnerable groups.
