I want to introduce a programme called “Culture into Schools” that would systematically connect schools with local artists, associations and cultural institutions. Students would get access to workshops, creative projects and modern forms of art. My goal is for culture in Prachatice not to be closed off, but to actively enter schools and look for young talent.
I want Prachatice to have a modern app for reporting issues and faults, which the town lacks today. People will be able to easily report a problem, follow how it's being dealt with and get clear answers. Only then will the town communicate and respond quickly, openly and with respect for residents' needs.
I want to use my experience from international projects and connect Prachatice with more schools, towns and organisations abroad. I'll support youth exchanges, cultural cooperation and projects that bring new ideas and inspiration. Prachatice can be a small town with a big international dimension.
My name is Jirka Hudec and ever since I was little I've enjoyed two things: people and culture. Even back then I was fascinated by public affairs and politics. That interest has stayed with me to this day – I'd rather actively change and create things than just idly talk about them. Right now I combine it with my work for the secondary pedagogical school in Prachatice, where I organise trips abroad in the Erasmus programme. Opening doors to the world for people and helping them gain experience abroad means a huge amount to me. I feel very close to foreign cultures and the world. I can get by in English, German and Norwegian. So my next steps naturally lead to university, where I'm planning to study European Studies combined with Baltic Studies, specifically Lithuanian. I enjoy discovering less-trodden paths and I believe that this unusual combination will help me connect people and ideas across Europe in the future. When I'm not planning international projects or dealing with public life, you'll one hundred percent find me at music or theatre. Art is my huge passion and my way of recharging my batteries. I act in theatre, sing in bands and in a vocal quartet, and I like switching between different instruments – depending on my mood I sit down at the piano or pick up the guitar, ukulele, clarinet or cajon. And my biggest musical weakness? Alternative jazz.
