A few words about me
My name is Iva Kateřina Karafiátová, I'm 25 and I study at the Faculty of Law of Západočeská univerzita in Plzeň. I've lived in Karlovy Vary since birth. That's exactly why I care what our city will look like and where it will move in the future.
Since 2025 I've been a registered supporter of STAN, and so I decided to run for STAN in the municipal elections. I want to be an active part of the change that, in my view, Karlovy Vary needs. If I win the voters' trust, I'd like to become a councillor and be the voice of the young generation directly on the council in Karlovy Vary.
I want Karlovy Vary to be a city of opportunities, especially for the young generation. My main topic is the creation of a public university and a better future for young people in Karlovy Vary. I want people not to have to leave Karlovy Vary to study or work, but to find their future right here. And if they do leave to study or gain experience, I want them to have a reason to come back.
What I love about Karlovy Vary is its uniqueness, history and atmosphere. But at the same time I believe the city can't live only on its past. We need to think about what we'll offer the next generation and what kind of city we want to hand over to it.
That's why I'm coming into local politics as a young person who lives and studies here and wants to be part of what will happen in Karlovy Vary. I don't just want to say that something should be different. I want to take an active part in that change.
