housing

How do we solve the housing crisis? First and foremost we have to build, build, build – that's why we will finally kick off the construction of new city-run flats. We will finance the construction smartly through a new municipal investment fund that will also bring the private sector on board, so that the number of flats grows faster. We will also fundamentally change the rules for developers. In new projects, as part of investor contributions, we will primarily require affordable flats for Praguers. The current practice, where the city wastes these contributions on things like building sewers, makes no sense. Prague has enough money to pay for infrastructure itself. But getting affordable flats back afterwards is almost impossible.

02

transport

Transport infrastructure must keep pace with the city's development. That's why we will immediately start preparing the circular metro line O, which will connect the new neighbourhoods on brownfield sites and will be a revolution for Prague's public transport. For it to follow smoothly on from the completion of line D, it is high time to act – unlike the current coalition, which wasted the past four years and didn't even manage to commission a feasibility study. We will also continue building metro line D and developing the tram lines whose preparation we started in the past. We will order all 200 new air-conditioned 52T trams. And last but not least, getting around Prague must be safe and pleasant. Building more crossings, pavements and cycle paths is therefore a matter of course for us.

03

budget and finances

Prague has enough money in its accounts, but it must finally start using it. If we don't start investing massively, we'll soon lose these funds anyway because of the government's measures. Besides flats and transport infrastructure, schools are a priority. Together with the city districts we will create a long-term financial plan and change the rules so that new construction pays off for the district town halls and they have enough money for nurseries, schools and other infrastructure. We will manage the city's coffers smartly. Instead of pointless across-the-board cuts, we will introduce a thorough spending review, measure value for money and regularly evaluate the benefit of the funds spent.

A few words about me

I have lived in Prague 10 since I was born. I graduated in law from Charles University, where I now also teach as part of my doctoral studies. Thanks to years of experience at Prague City Hall, where I deal with city finances and budgets, I know how the city works from the inside. For a long time I have been focusing on urban development, municipal finances, construction law and affordable housing.
