In recent years the transport situation in Čelákovice has improved significantly – on the railway thanks to the reconstruction of the main line and the station and more trains at peak times, and on the roads thanks to the recent opening of the bypass. Streets and public spaces in Čelákovice are being gradually renovated, which is definitely a commendable undertaking. Whether for locals, who can spend time in a pleasant environment, or for people from elsewhere and visitors, on whom our town makes a good impression and who can pass their impressions on. For that reason, we need to have as many public spaces and streets across the town as possible that are user-friendly and where people will be happy to go on their own, in groups and with children, without any worries, for example about road traffic. Cycling infrastructure should also be more cohesive, not only on the bank of the Elbe but also in the town centre. In general, when it comes to using public space, we can take inspiration from many similarly sized towns in, for example, Poland, Germany or Austria.

Čelákovice has the opportunity to present itself to the outside world in the best possible light. Its very location near Prague and on the bank of the Elbe offers the chance to strengthen its "Domov na Labi" brand. Our town, lying literally in the heart of the heart of Europe, should therefore establish lasting partnerships with various towns in the neighbouring Central European countries that are similar in character to Čelákovice. Besides the mutual inspiration in how they look, mentioned above, close cooperation is also called for, not only at the highest levels but also in education, culture and sport. This will also spread mutual awareness of the towns and regions, their history and the people who live in them. Every such close contact is very valuable in today's digital age.

A few words about me

My name is Daniel Paál, I'm 26, I have lived in Čelákovice all my life and I would like to give back to the town, through my service, all the good it has given me. I am a proud graduate of Gymnázium Čelákovice and of the bachelor's (hopefully soon also master's) programme in Area Studies at IMS FSV UK. My specialisation is everything to do with Central European, Balkan and Baltic affairs. Alongside my studies, I have always tried to be socially and civically active. First in our student organisation SIMS, later I also moved closer to youth politics. Last year, at my quarter-century, I joined Mladí lidovci, drawn not only by our wonderful brothers and sisters but also by my own affinity with Christian democracy and its success story, which draws on the spiritual and humanist legacy of Europe and its civilisation. Since January 2026 I have been the regional chair of ML in the Central Bohemian Region, and that is one of the reasons why I want to set an example with my candidacy and motivate my peers. Not to mention the potential of KDU-ČSL led by Jan Grolich. In my free time I travel around Czechia and the neighbouring Central European countries – mostly by rail, of which I am a big fan. I regularly go to pub quizzes and other knowledge contests. Now and then I have even appeared on TV quiz shows, which I like to watch, just as I follow current affairs and sport. I also try to stay active myself, whether on cycling trips or walking pilgrimages. Besides that, in my spare moments I enjoy picking up new foreign languages, knowledge and other skills, and on all sorts of occasions I'm very happy to chat with anyone.
