01

culture

Culture in the city centre isn't just big institutions. Just as important is a diverse community and associational life, from traditional folk ensembles and amateur theatres to the independent music scene. These activities need support, whether through grants or by providing suitable facilities. Brno-střed should therefore make better use of its own premises and offer associations affordable halls, rehearsal rooms or clubrooms. For many of them, lack of space is one of the biggest obstacles to operating in the long term. But culture doesn't have to happen only indoors. I also want to support smaller neighbourhood festivities, street art and other local events that bring public space to life and give people the chance to meet right where they live.

02

greenery

In Brno's built-up centre, good-quality greenery is important for a pleasant life. That's why I want to protect mature trees, plant new street greenery where it's feasible and take better care of existing parks. Inner courtyards and yards also have great potential. They can offer a quiet, green place to relax right for the people who live nearby. The city district should support greening them as well as the creation and expansion of community gardens. Simple things that can make life in the centre more pleasant, such as drinking fountains or rain gardens, are also important. Because greenery isn't just a question of how the city looks. On hot days it helps cool the streets and improves air quality.

03

sport

Sport in the centre of Brno mustn't just mean expensive commercial gyms. From my own experience organising tournaments, I know that smaller and less traditional sports often run into a lack of available spaces. The town hall should open school playgrounds and gyms to the public and actively support smaller clubs that work with children and young people. And in the centre, it's not just about finding new spaces; what matters is making better use of the ones we already have. I don't want to forget about informal sport either. Good outdoor workout parks, ping-pong tables in parks or small basketball courts should be a normal part of public space.

A few words about me

I'm a political science student at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University and I've decided to run for the council of the Brno-střed city district.

My life is closely tied to folklore. For over 20 years I've been dancing in DNS Brněnský Valášek, where I also worked as a trainee instructor for five years. Apart from couple dances, I'm also intensively involved in odzemek, with which I've made it to the finals in Vsetín and Rožnov several times, and I regularly take part in international festivals (Strážnice, MFF Brno, Rožnovské slavnosti, festivals abroad…). Thanks to that, I know very well how much time and work it takes for any association to function. I also like Czech punk and rock, I'm a huge fan of theatre, films and video games, I love reading, I help run table curling tournaments and I do balcony gardening.

I live in the centre of Brno and know well what life there brings. I want a Brno-střed with accessible culture and lively public space. At the same time, I want to support opportunities for spending free time actively, whether it's outdoor workout parks, facilities for smaller and less traditional sports, or a safe and clean environment for families with children.
